Applications are open for two new positions at the BBF under the Bristol Bay Rural Health Pathways Fellowship program. These positions are contingent upon funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program grant. Upon award, these positions are anticipated to be funded for an initial 12-month period, with the opportunity for continuation based on continued grant funding and program needs.
This Fellowship program is a new, grant-funded program that we anticipate will begin in Fall 2026. It will deliver meaningful cultural and workforce development opportunities for participants who want to strengthen healthcare and uplift wellbeing in Bristol Bay. To manage this program, we are searching for passionate, focused staff to fill two roles:
Rural Health Pathways Program Manager
The Rural Health Pathways Program Manager provides strategic leadership for the Bristol Bay Rural Health Pathways Fellowship and oversees all aspects of Fellowship operations, including strategic planning, partnership development, grant management, program evaluation, budgeting, and supervision of the Rural Health Pathways Program Coordinator.

Lead implementation and ongoing management of the Bristol Bay Rural Health Pathways Fellowship, ensuring all activities align with grant requirements, organizational priorities, and program objectives.
Develop and maintain an annual work plan, implementation timelines, policies, operating procedures, and reporting systems that support effective program delivery and long-term sustainability.
Provide day-to-day leadership for Fellowship operations, ensuring high-quality participant experiences and successful achievement of grant deliverables.
Ensure compliance with grant requirements, organizational policies, funding documentation, reporting deadlines, and workforce development objectives.
Prepare internal and external reports, presentations, grant updates, and program communications for leadership, funders, partners, and community stakeholders.
Supervise the Rural Health Pathways Program Coordinator and provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to support successful program implementation.

Manage the Fellowship budget in coordination with Finance staff.

Bachelor's degree in public health, education, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, social work, or related field.
Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in program management, workforce development, healthcare initiatives, student success, or related fields.
Experience working with Alaska Native communities, Tribal organizations, rural healthcare systems, educational institutions, or workforce development initiatives preferred.
Experience managing grants, budgets, partnerships, and program evaluation.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.

Knowledge of healthcare workforce development, scholarship and fellowship programming, and student success initiatives.
Ability to develop collaborative partnerships across healthcare, education, Tribal, nonprofit, and community sectors.
Ability to lead complex projects while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Rural Health Pathways Program Coordinator
The Rural Health Pathways Program Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day implementation and participant experience of the Bristol Bay Rural Health Pathways Fellowship. Working under the direction of the Rural Health Pathways Program Manager, this position coordinates recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, Fellowship programming, participant support, and workforce development activities throughout the program year.

Coordinate implementation of the annual Fellowship calendar, including participant recruitment, orientation, virtual convenings, professional development sessions, leadership development activities, networking events, cultural learning experiences, healthcare workforce experiences, cohort gatherings, and rural immersion activities.
Coordinate outreach and recruitment activities through BBF's scholarship network, educational institutions, community and family networks, healthcare partners, and Foundation communications to identify prospective Fellows.
Coordinate Fellowship application, review, selection, onboarding, orientation, and participant communications throughout the Fellowship year.
Coordinate mentor recruitment, orientation, matching, communications, and ongoing engagement to foster meaningful relationships between Fellows and practicing healthcare professionals.
Coordinate engagement with Elders, healthcare professionals, employers, and guest presenters who contribute to Fellowship programming through presentations, networking opportunities, cultural activities, and workforce development experiences.
Manage planning and logistics for Fellowship programming, including participant communications, travel, lodging, meeting facilities, presenters, materials, honoraria, and event coordination.
Create a welcoming, culturally responsive Fellowship experience that fosters belonging, leadership development, professional growth, and long-term commitment to serving Bristol Bay communities.
Gather participant feedback and recommend improvements that strengthen Fellowship programming and participant experience.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Fellows throughout the program year.
With the program manager, serve as a secondary liaison between Fellows, mentors, healthcare partners, Tribal organizations, educational institutions, employers, and community partners participating in the Fellowship.
Track participant engagement, persistence, program milestones, workforce outcomes, and other performance measures required for grant reporting and evaluation.

Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, public health, healthcare administration, human services, workforce development, counseling, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, with a minimum of three years of related experience supporting students, workforce development programs, healthcare initiatives, fellowship programs, or community-based services; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience working with students, young adults, Alaska Native communities, Tribal organizations, healthcare workforce initiatives, or postsecondary support programs preferred.
Strong organizational, relationship-building, communication, and event coordination skills.
Experience coordinating meetings, trainings, educational programming, or participant engagement activities preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, virtual communication platforms, databases, and participant tracking systems.
Valid Alaska driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Bristol Bay region.

Port Heiden Community Coordinator
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Coordinator to support our Teaching Culture, Honoring Heritage: Bristol Bay’s Native Language Empowerment Collaborative (TC2H) project. This individual will oversee and implement language and cultural initiatives aligned with the foundation’s goals. In close collaboration with partners, schools, and tribes, the Community Coordinator will administer and deliver culturally responsive enrichment activities that celebrate local traditions and integrate them into academic and extracurricular settings.
This position is central to planning and implementing Immersive After-School Activities in Port Heiden. These activities will bring together students, families, educators, elders, and community members to promote intergenerational learning and cultural vitality. The Coordinator must be on-site in the community of Port Heiden.

Build strong relationships and communicate with partner districts, tribal entities, and local communities to ensure relevance and sustainability.
Plan and facilitate immersive cultural enrichment activities in partnership with local schools, tribes, and community partners.
Align cultural activities with academic calendars, guest speakers, and local artist sessions.
Organize hands-on workshops that connect cultural themes with school and/or extracurricular programs.
Work with school administrators and tribal governments to secure venues for activities.
Arrange transportation for elders, guest speakers, and community participants as needed by activities.
Coordinate with educators to ensure teacher participation and classroom alignment.
Conduct outreach and communication to promote events within communities.
Participate in meetings with the BBF Alutiiq Language Team, tribal representatives, and knowledge bearers.
Foster collaboration between schools and tribal communities to strengthen relationships and mutual understanding.
Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and program outcomes.
Establish and implement evaluation and feedback methods for continuous program improvement.
Submit regular reports to program leadership and external evaluator agencies as required to ensure responsible grant reporting on performance measures.
Regularly review program outcomes and adjust strategies as needed.
Integrate cultural preservation efforts into educational programs, respecting and celebrating the rich heritage of Alaska Native communities.
